God Bless our Youth!

You know - I don’t really know what to say.  I am at awe of the way God is at work among our kids…and so should you be!

A coworker of mine has a son who has been in trouble for as long as I’ve known him.  He’s been constantly called away from work to go to the school, has had some serious behavior issues, has had issues with stealing and just overall rebellious activity.    He’s done some pretty bad things and lashed out in response.   He lives with his dad and his dad’s wife and the relationship with his mother is strained.   I invited this child to come to our youth program at NHC in the past.  He did come one time.  But it didn’t, at the time, have an impact on him.

Well last week my co-workers son came back from Mountain Top Youth Camp.  This kid came back…a new kid.  He even got SAVED!!!  And even though he’s only just come home - the impact that God has had on his life is just a short time has become so evident.   It is absolutely amazing and how it’s impacting him is evident when his dad walked into my office to talk about it this morning.  He’s trying to right wrongs he did, retrieve jewelry he stole and give it back to it’s rightful owner, bought himself a Bible and is mending relationships with his family.  His dad says the change in him is AMAZING…and that to me is proof that GOD is amazing.

Through the ups and downs God is putting before me for purposes I know are much greater than my own could ever be…I am giving God mad props for changing the lives of our youth.  Praise him for the lives he mends both young and old.

I already know that God is moving through our own Youth Ministry at NHC in unbelievable ways….but to hear of stories not directly related to our own youth ministry amazes me just as much!

We all need to remember…that Jesus himself did not condone the rebuking of children…and we need to be doing all that we can to get these children into the Kingdom of God and when they express their own willingness to make that decision - we need to make sure we are in complete support of and celebrate that with them.

We need to express our utmost joy and celebration even with our small children express an interest in the Kingdom of God.

Mark 10:13-16 says….People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
